Fighting Back With Friends Through Relational Organizing
Launched in March 2025, Fight Back With Friends! is a national relational organizing initiative led by Indivisible. The program offers monthly trainings designed to help both new and seasoned leaders across the country effectively use the Empower app and contextualize Indivisible’s calls to action within their own communities.The program equips participants to activate their personal network (friends, family, and neighbors) as trusted messengers in the fight to protect democracy. Through action-driven conversations, participants share timely civic information and mobilize their communities using proven relational organizing techniques.
Three months in, Fight Back With Friends! had cultivated nearly 200 active leaders who collectively engaged over 4,000 people. Each training session averages approximately 300 participants, demonstrating strong and consistent interest. Actions taken by participants have included urging members of Congress to oppose harmful legislation, recruiting for local Indivisible chapters, and mobilizing turnout for national demonstrations such as the “Hands Off!” and “No Kings” rallies. This program exemplifies how relational organizing can scale civic engagement by empowering local leaders at the national level.
