James is a campaign expert with a passion for helping elect progressive candidates. He brings years of federal, state, and local campaign experience to Empower Project, where he provides support to statewide candidates, parties, and congressional and state legislature campaigns. James was first drawn to organizing and political campaigns because he hoped to improve access to quality health care, economic justice, and LGBTQ+ rights. His professional journey began in the 2016 presidential election cycle in New York and Ohio. Then, he went on to work on several local, state, and federal campaigns. Throughout his career, James has worked directly on the ground across six states, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Virginia, and North Carolina, where he managed the most expensive state legislative race in North Carolina history. At Empower Project, he builds relationships and works directly with campaigns, county parties, state parties, democratic organizations and coordinated organizations. He’s also supported campaigns, caucuses and state parties across the country, from small municipal races to large statewide campaigns to stand up relational organizing programs. His skills include relational organizing, fundraising, and campaign management.
